I found my new apartment. Location Location Location! It's in the heart of downtown Erie! I can't wait .... to be in the city again! I know it's not downtown Denver - but, I have my coffeeshop, library, Irish Pub, farmers market, and lake within walking distance!!! More to come once I get the keys on Thursday!

So when I moved back to Erie in Nov 2006 - I told my brother "I'll stay with you until I find something in the Spring". Well Spring came, Summer flew by and then the snow started to fall again. Right around Christmas time, we were sitting at BW3's watching the Cowboy's place when I was informed that while my parents were in Florida (I moved into their new house to "housesit") I was being "evicted". Steve wanted his house back to himself.

So I am in a quandary - I can stay at my parents in the spare room (rent free), or find something of my own. They get home the first week in March .... time is ticking and don't know what to do.

If anyone knows of a great (cheap) apartment/house for rent ... leave me a comment.

snow, snow, snow. now we add blowing wind, and wind chills in the minus teens! what does that equal? no electricity at the house in the woods! luckily, my brother being an electrician has access to a gas powered generator. YIPPEE! heat and tv!
penelec estimates the electricity to be back on around midnight ... so it's been out now at least 6 hours (no one was home prior to 4, so who knows). i would have NO idea how to connect the generator to power the whole house ... thank god for steve!

that my best friend from elementary school is in the process of writing a book???

my time in phoenix has ended ... i am sad to leave christine, jeff, nicholas and taylor. and of course, my kick-ass condo on the golf course. today i am relaxing at tracie's in albuquerque and headed back to colorado springs wednesday for thanksgiving dinner.

my brother, steve, is flying out on the 29th to drive back to erie with me. YES - i am moving back to erie, crazy, i know it, but the time is right.

still don't have a job in erie - but i have some leads. dad said that he would let me work for him :)

wow, i didn't realize how long its been since i posted. well, we've been busy with the store - actually not in it yet, but we are getting there. let's hope next week. and we should have electricity soon too! i don't want to post any pictures yet, until the painters are done.

christine and i went to the arizona biltmore on saturday to attend phoenix cooks! it showcased chefs from the phoenix area. all the food was YUMMY! and found some great wines in the wine tasting room. next year super suppers will have to be part of this great event (proceeds going to the phoenix children's hospital)!

my mom has been converting her plethora of slides into .jpg format so that we can actually look at them (the slide projector died years ago!). found these two ... i don't know if either my brother or I are happy about wearing the "mouse costume". all i remember is that i made steve walk around the block in that thing. i know i will pay later for this post ... sorry, steve!!

my evenings have been spent either with a glass of wine or a very cold vodka tonic on the patio. relaxing from my days. not that christine is working my fingers to the bone (yet). but recovering from some strange "firsts". in the middle of the first night at the condo, a vase fell off a shelf (scared the crap out of tracie & i - i kept "sleeping" trying to play it off as a dream, until tracie came in my room). sunday afternoon, after taking tracie to the airport, i found a small bird flitting around the condo - it took almost 4 hours to get the bird out, i think ... it still may be in there. monday night as i was getting the garbage can to take out from the garage - i saw a big ass spider (the body was at least 3 inches in diameter) -brown recluse, hobo spider, black widow? and last night on my way home from christine's i almost hit a coyote!!! the day will come when a scorpion will be crawling on my car and i will scream almost as loud as little miss taylor bowers when she misses her mommy!

on the road again, this time with a travel companion and my own car! i was so lucky to have tracie with me on the 2nd leg of the trip from colorado to phoenix. she drove the whole 6.5 hours!

why phoenix? my plan is to be here for about 3 months to help my friends christine & jeff bowers open a new franchise store called "super suppers". and jeff's parents - out of the kindess of their hearts - are letting me stay in their awesome condo at "troon north".

so good to be back. i got into denver last night and headed right to the la quinta to freshen up and head out to see my friends at cafe cero and listen to the byron shaw projex. so happy to see mel and chad again - i really did miss them and denver!

i am waiting for my flight to leave good ol' erie, pa. my HEAVY bags are checked and i am waiting to board - i forget how easy it is to fly in/out of here. there is no line at check-in and i could have showed up 30 minutes before my flight and all would have been good. it's a shame i am leaving on the nicest day this week. let's hope denver is just as nice!!! until later erie!

i spent the weekend with my best friend from pre-school this weekend in brecksville, ohio. jen, her husband (brent) and son (brogan) were so gracious to have me over for the weekend. brent the consummate bartender introduced me to his menu of drinks - pomagrante martini's, jolly ranchers, and his not-so-traditional vodka tonic.

brogan & i played lots of xbox and we went swimming at their neighbor's house. fun was had by all!

'dobbins landing' - known to those over the age of 30 as the 'public dock' was a place for cruising on friday and saturday night. just ask my girlfriends about riding my first truck (the jungle gym) and then later in the 'cara-van' around the dock.now they have built an observation tower, and are in the process of building both a convention center and hotel right on the bay. the hope that it will draw more people to the waterfront.

i was lucky enough to be invited to "camp" this past weekend by friends of my aunt & uncle (ray, toni and sydney sherman). little did i know that "camp" looked like this. i was part of the group the christened the new 1500 sq.ft. house with a slumber party, vodka tonics, sun, and fun boating on the clarion river.

i can never get sick of an erie sunset. they are amazing. this one was taken from a cottage on the beach (long time friends, the goring's, live down there in the summer). a cold beer, bonfire, lightening bugs, and the sound of waves crashing on the shore make this scene a true vacation.

i was very happy to come back to erie and work for my parents for a couple of weeks. i could attend a couple of weddings, enjoy the humidity, and make some money. on the 2nd day here, my dad asks me to stay for an entire month ... what could i say, but OK. so i am here until the 22nd of july and i am going to make the most of it. last night we went to beach 1 and saw One World Tribe play- every wednesday some band plays - it was packed.

i just got back to the hotel from the benefit show for chad! what a great night! my feet ache (damn, why did i wear those shoes?) - but i will sleep happy knowing that we brought in over $1000 to support chad & mel. wish i had some pictures ... sleep tight!!!! special thanks to: herman's, brian handlos, byron shaw, kristen nolan, sam adams and all the bands that played!!!

my story of the two girls who go to chicago to see pearl jam has come to an end. i pulled into colorado springs around 8pm to the sound of "jeremy" on my xm radio. a fitting end to a great 3 days!

judy will have to continue to practice her "stalk and leap" methods for the next show!

i don't have a job ... judy has finished classes in madison. So what is there to do, but meet in chicago for a "rockstar" 3 days and see pearl jam? judy is an eddie fanatic! i was telling mutual friends prior to arriving in chicago that "i am going to have to renew my CPR certification or buy a stun gun".

i booked my flight (screamin' deal) and then went on hotwire.com blindly booked a hotel for us in downtown chicago. $82/night - 4 star .... (drum roll, please) swissotel! "Honored as "One of the 500 Best Hotels in the World" by Travel + Leisure for two consecutive years". i was psyched! i sent the hotel info to judy and then she was psyched.

monday the 15th rolls around ... i drive to denver, get on my plane, cab it from midway to the hotel. the hotel is located where the "river meets the lake" on upper wacker. walking distance to michigan avenue and lots of SHOPPING! jude drove from madison, after a short detour (remember LEFT at the church), she made it - with a 12pack of bud! That's my girl! Instead of cruising the city - we stayed in our room - drank the WHOLE 12pack and surfed the net, chatted, looked at pictures and of course ... listened to pearl jam. 1:30 am rolls around - I am finally going to bed - judy is finishing her last beer. tomorrow we see eddie!

tuesday, 11AM: let's eat! so we walked down michigan ave. found a small - found deals on great lucky jeans (both of us). i bought some clearance jewelry to wear on thursday. she bought a watch and this rockin' ring. we met up with one of judy's friends from chicago - vic. vic took time off work to treat us to some cocktails prior to the show. we met up with vic's friend mike. can't miss the opening act "my morning jacket" (judy saw them at Bonaroo last year).

tuesday, 9pm: Oh my god, it's eddie!!! the set list was great, i brought my camera, took some great pictures and even a couple movies!

tuesday, 11:30pm: show is over, vic and mike left early - mike was not feeling well to say the least. so 2 girls on the prowl for a cab! what drama ensued - had to walk about 4 or 5 blocks and have what looked to be a 16 yr. old guy flag one down for us. as judy put it "subversive economics" (i think).

wednesday, 12am: download pics - remember every moment! SLEEP!

wednesday, 10am: wake up, shower, EAT! judy drove me to midway, i left my wallet in the car, she turned around and brought it back. which brings me to the present ... i am sitting at the gate, listening to (of course) pearl jam. judy is driving back to madison (probably listening to pearl jam). i have a bad feeling my flight is going to be delayed - it's raining here.
